SPRING CLEANING

May produce some things you’d like to pass along to The Craddock Center’s furniture storage unit. The inventory is very low now but the need is high! Several families have been burned out and others are forced to start over due to many unavoidable circumstances. If during your spring cleaning you come across some furniture or household goods you’d like to contribute, please call 706-632-1772. Tammy can arrange a pickup or she'll meet you at the storage unit in Blue Ridge.

KNITTED HATS
YOU MET THE GOAL!

Over 1,200 knitted and crocheted hats have been received from all over the U.S. This week the Center received two boxes of hats from “Chicks with Sticks” at The Chesapeake Retirement Community in Newport News, VA which put us over the top!

This morning the temperature was 30° when Santa and I set out for Copper Basin, TN. So you can imagine how happy the children were to pull those warm hats down over their ears.

Please know this hat project is ongoing because we get new children every year. So we are counting on the knitting and crocheting to continue. On behalf of the warm-eared kids I send many thanks. — TLS

IT’S ABOUT TIME

Knitted hatsTo start delivering warm knitted hats to the preschoolers who are in The Craddock Center’s CEP program. Some folks, like the wonderful ladies of the Douglas United Methodist Women in Douglas, LA, pictured above, have knitted all summer. Last week we got four amazing boxes of hats from them. One of the ladies, Johnnie Lou Walker, made 100 of the 161 hats they donated.

All the knitters who have sent hats need to know what a difference your gifts will make in the lives of these children who are the recipients. Not only will their ears stay warm, but they are so proud to have something made just for them!

Douglas United Methodist ChurchOne of the teachers told me last year that her class wore their hats every day from the day they received them in late October until it got warm in the Spring. She wanted the knitters to know how happy those beautiful hats of many colors had made her kids!

We hope to continue receiving hats until all 1100 heads are covered. Many thanks to all the knitters and those who have sent yarn. We are about halfway to the goal. — TLS
